Boutary, a trip to a paradise... of caviar

« Back

To discover this exceptional place, you'll need to cross the Seine by the Pont des Arts and walk up the Rue Mazarine. It is 10 minutes walk from the Relais du Louvre.

We advise you to visit for lunch. That's when the restaurant is less crowded and offers, like most gourmet restaurants, a cheaper lunch menu: starter/main or dessert for €29 and a starter/main/dessert for €34.

Initially specialising in viticulture and as a delicatessen, this house founded in 1888 has recently devoted itself exclusively to caviar and is now one of the great names of French caviar.

The decor is elegant but not pretentious, pretty stylish and above all friendly and warm, where you can sit down and get comfy for your meal. The brand aimed for its decor to be a mixture of tradition and modernity: a quality space presenting a menu that democratises caviar while retaining a French service heavily imbued with rituals.

The "refresher", created by La Cristallerie Saint Louis.

The restaurant communicates little about its products but by visiting the Facebook page of the new chef Jay Wook Hur, who has worked alongside Jean François Piège, I discover a real passion for exceptional products: Galicia beef, matured over 40 days, the arrival of small French ceps that will be mixed with candied chestnuts...

The food is exquisite, beautiful to look at and complements the tapas. The mashed potato with caviar and sour cream is a marvel for the senses. This is one of the Boutary establishment's great classics.

Mashed potato, seaweed butter, wood smoked, caviar and sour sauce €19
Heart of imperial marinated salmon - €15

The poached peach is such a success of style that it must be influenced by gastronomy. Have you noticed that they matched the Boutary red to the peach sauce?

"Baroness" style poached peach - Espuma and bergamot cream, almond milk ice cream - €14

Finally, you can opt for the 5-course menu (€69) with 3 complementary wines (€24). Some occasions are worthy of gifting yourself little moments that won't be easily forgotten...
