I can't praise Le Relais du Louvre highly enough. Whether this is your first visit or your fifth, you will love this little jewel of a hotel.
The location, on the quiet Rue des Prêtres-Saint-Germain-l'Auxerrois, is ideal: directly next to Saint-Germain-l'Auxerrois, across the street from the Louvre, a block south of the bustling Rue de Rivoli, and a block north of the Seine, with easy walks to the Île de la Cité, the Left Bank, the Marais and other neighborhoods.
The hotel, with its 10 bedrooms, is intimate and cozy, with a classy, comfortable lobby. There is a safe and a coffee/tea maker in every room, and coffee/tea is available in the lobby every afternoon. Leave your room key with the concierge on your way to your daily activities (so they know who's in the building and who's not) and retrieve it when you return. For your security, doors are locked in the early evening, but there is a buzzer outside the front door and someone will let you in immediately. They have postage stamps available, and will include your postcards in their daily outgoing mail. A tasty continental breakfast is delivered promptly to your room at the time requested. There is always a staff member at the front desk.
With everything else going for it, the concierge staff sets Le Relais du Louvre apart from other Parisian hotels. The concierges (all of whom speak fluent English) were warm, gracious, friendly, helpful and, above all, kind. It was our impression that they truly wanted us to enjoy our stay. They ordered taxis for us, and even gave the drivers explicit directions on where we wanted to go. They recommended airport transportation that was just as good at half the cost of the service we had been considering. They are scrupulously honest - one day when we left a tip for the maid, it was withheld until they confirmed with us that we hadn't accidentally left the money behind.
Believe me, you will be thrilled with your decision to stay at Le Relais du Louvre the next time, and every time, you visit Paris.
