7 Romantic Places for that Unique Parisian Experience

Here are our favorites among Parisian spots that are as romantic as they are odd. Often unknown to tourists and even Parisians, discovering these places will offer you special experiences.

Walk Around the Mouzaïa District

Mouzaïa is the countryside of Paris. This district was established on part of the gypsum quarry of the Beauregard hillock, exploited from the Middle Ages to the 1860s, and is only a few streets big. The instability of the grounds above the underground tunnels explains the reduced size of the pavilions of this district.

Start your walk at métro Botzaris and head for rue de Mouzaïa.

Stroll through the “Passages des Panoramas”

The passage des panoramas is the oldest and most authentic passages in Paris. The shops that have set up there offer food, stamps, coins, and other curiosities. Beautiful antique facades such as that of the chocolatier Marquis or the Stern printing house  (get only one coffee).

Have a tea on Sunday at the Grande Mosquée de Paris

You must first visit the mosque, which you can do for free. Admire the garden and enjoy the charm of the passageways. Leave the mosque and then go to the cafe, located at the corner of the same building. There is a family atmosphere here on Sundays. Do note however that getting a spot in the courtyard is almost impossible, but not to worry, the many dining rooms available are just as charming.

The Butte Begeyre is located west of the Buttes-Chaumont park  and rises to a hundred meters above sea level. It is lined with 19th century subdivisions that may seem simplistic, but make no mistake, this area is an over representation of architects and artists.

To reach this hidden village, which is distinguished by the absence of tourists and cars, you can take the stairs located at 2 rue Georges Lardennois and join the Butte Bergeyre garden which includes a small vineyard that produces a hundred liters of wine per year.
