"Palace" bars selected by the Relais du Louvre

The "Palace" classification is awarded to a few 5-star hotels that combine flawless quality with standout features. We've selected six bars from among the 12 Parisian "Palaces".

After a four-year makeover and exceptional restoration work carried out by Jean-Michel Wilmotte, this beautiful Art Nouveau building is the only Left Bank "Palace" where the bar is one of the centrepieces. The welcome and service are as polite and civilised as they are individual. Jazz weekends from 7.30 pm to 10.30 pm. It's the Relais du Louvre's favourite.

Another historic location, the Meurice has walls that speak. Salvador Dalí stayed here whenever he was in Paris. He would receive journalists here for his offbeat interviews.

The Empire style bar with its English club atmosphere, recently revamped by Philippe Starck, is very spacious and provides a good setting for its cocktails. Jazz every night.

The botanist is actually Prince Roland Bonaparte, who created the world's largest private herbarium, containing 2,500,000 specimens. He had the present hotel built to house his collection.

Pierre-Yves Ronchon's Empire style décor is not uncommon, but the bar is welcoming, comfortable and stylish. It also offers a vast range of drinks with some very imaginative cocktails.

The premises are not very big, but the bar has a décor that is both creative and high-quality, and offers a constantly updated selection of the world's most exclusive bottles of Dom Pérignon.

If you have a lot of guests and your wallet contains a €150,000 note, you can splash out on the rare and iconic Dom Pérignon rosé in a 6-litre Methuselah. Otherwise you can choose one of the delicious cocktails on the list, which are more affordably priced.

It's a bar that was designed by Philippe Stark ten years ago. Above all, it offers comfort and warmth, elegance and style. There's plenty of room, and it's equally suitable for a business meeting or an intimate tête-à-tête.

Although it's the most classic of all the classics, it has one definite advantage – access to the garden. With azaleas and rhododendrons, cherubs, a fountain and white sunshades, the bar is an absolute haven of peace.
