Go see the master spice: Roellinger

This establishment is a 10-minute walk from the Relais du Louvre. If you like French food, if you need a gift at low cost that represents French culinary art, this store is a truly exceptional place to visit.

Olivier Roellinger won three Michelin stars in 2006. As a Breton and native of Cancale (Sophie Aulnette is also from the northern part of Brittany), his childhood was filled with the atmosphere of the pirates of Saint Malo, the road of the Indies … The spice route was not far!Olivier Roellinger is also the son of a grocer. He is a specialist in culinary hybridization and among the illustrious French chefs; he is, above all, the great spice expert.

Olivier Roellinger

Olivier Roellinger is a great enthusiast who acts on emotion. He went to Malaysia and India, where he went through the beautiful Kerala region and the former trading post of Cochin followed by Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Mexico and Madagascar. He started importing spices with 500 kilos, but it grew month by month and eventually reach orders of five tonnes.

Like all great chefs, Olivier Roellinger is respectful of the product and the artisan who creates it.  “The nobility of this trade is to buy quality for someone who can then experience this quality,” he said. His product range is mainly focused on organic and fair trade.

The store on Rue Sainte Anne
A scene in the style of “boatmen from the road to the Indies.”

Roellinger dislikes adopting the traditional marketing rules. He does not want to duplicate his stores worldwide and trivialize his product and brand. Therefore, he has only 3 Roellinger stores worldwide. It is singularity and uniqueness of the customer experience on which he relies to create quality. Do we really want to go in the brand stores we see everywhere in France while traveling abroad? Therefore take advantage of what you will see on rue Saint-Anne and take home what has attracted you as a souvenir of your Paris visit.

In this store, you can find multiple blends of spices, of course, a wide selection of peppers, fleurs de sel sea salt, a good variety of hot peppers, rare vanillas and teas. You’ll also find elegant gift boxes at fairly reasonable prices. This is an opportunity to bring back an original gift that you can tell a story about!

You can also order online on the bilingual site. The navigation is not always easy, but the website is worth it and it’s very creative. You’ll even find recipes.

Have a good visit on Rue Saint-Anne, and a good olfactory experience!
