For this address, head to the mythical Drugstore Publicis at the top of the Champs-Élysées. This emblematic venue offers a variety of activities, from a press and pharmacy to a bookshop, delicatessen and restaurant available until 2:00 am.
The Ateliers of famous 3-star chef Joël Robuchon boast a distinctive signature: open kitchen, red and black décor designed by Pierre-Yves Rochon, subdued lighting and diners seated at counters facing the open kitchen, enjoying the ballet of the kitchen brigade. The atmosphere is very 80s. And why not?
The chef with the tricolor collar is Éric Bouchenoire, meilleur ouvrier de France. He has followed Joël Robuchon since he was 24, has travelled the world with him several times and has never left.
I start with a very delicate appetizer: Foie gras, parmesan reduction, morel emulsion. Served warm.
I enjoy my meal with a Côtes du Jura l’Acacia Berthet-Bondet 2020.
I continue with shrimps accompanied by a romaine salad, cauliflower and romanesco cabbage, all dressed with a turmeric-peanut vinaigrette.
The homemade bread is accompanied by a semi-salted butter from Bordier. Addictive.
I unknowingly ordered two starters, which turned out to be a good thing, considering the dessert that followed. I was served scallops with celery purée and potato jelly. The potato jelly was deliciously surprising, while the scallops had a fine caramelized flavor.
And finally, these “little pots” take me back to childhood. A crème brûlée, not burnt, flavored with Madagascan vanilla. I savor it as I bite into two beautiful madeleine fresh from the oven. The chocolate cream is perfect too. The cocoa is delicious and the consistency perfectly firm. I accompany it with a financier, also warm and crunchy. The fruit pastes round off these sins of the day.
All in all, I had a great time at L’Atelier Robuchon. The price of 49€ is well deserved for this menu, and you may or may not choose to complete your order, this time at the “normal” rate.
