The menu

The menu at Le Sand follows a contemporary bistro approach, intentionally concise, combining sharing plates with reassuring classics, delivered in a clear and accessible way.

The starters move between French tradition and more modern touches, offering a balanced variety. The main courses continue in this vein, with familiar dishes complemented by three daily specials made with seasonal ingredients, bringing freshness and renewal.

Pricing is in line with the neighborhood, while desserts focus on well-known classics. Overall, the menu is efficient, fluid and well suited to a lively setting, designed to appeal to a broad audience throughout the day.

The experience

To begin, I chose a foie gras vol-au-vent. This classic pastry preparation is presented here in a mini bite format. The well risen, crisp puff pastry holds a layer of pear compote that brings a controlled sweetness, topped with a piece of foie gras. The dish is accompanied by a foie gras and porcini reduction, adding depth of flavor without heaviness. The balance is precise, between richness, sweetness and subtle woody notes.

Next comes a pork shoulder, served with sweet potato purée, a few shavings of fennel and a barbecue sauce. The cooking is well mastered; the meat remains juicy with a nice caramelization on the surface. The purée brings a rounded sweetness that complements the sauce, whose sweet and sour balance is particularly successful. The fennel adds a fresh note and a light crunch that lifts the dish. The result is precise, well composed and very well executed.

To finish the meal, I chose the Lazy tarte, presented as a dessert somewhere between a tart and a crumble. Visually, the dish is simple and generous, enhanced by a nice quenelle of vanilla ice cream that adds to its indulgence. The apples are clearly highlighted, in a comforting style. One can simply note a slightly pronounced juice, which somewhat softens the contrast of textures expected in this type of dessert.

In summary, Le Sand offers a coherent and well-executed experience, supported by an elegant setting and a straightforward cuisine that focuses on essentials. The venue fully delivers as a pleasant place to spend time, suitable for both lunch and a relaxed dinner. Prices are in line with the neighborhood, and the overall impression remains convincing for a recent opening.
