The excellent Fondation Cartier for Contemporary Art had outgrown its superb building in the 14th arrondissement, designed by Jean Nouvel.
Since October 25, it has reopened in its new 17,000 m² location, 500 meters from the Relais du Louvre, between the Louvre and the Palais Royal, after four years of renovation work led by architect Jean Nouvel.
The new museum now displays its collections over 11,000 m². Together with the Louvre, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs and the Bourse de Commerce, the 1st arrondissement of Paris now exceeds 100,000 m² of museum space. It ranks among the most dense and concentrated cultural areas in the world.
