This typical Parisian restaurant offers refined traditional French cuisine in a pleasant setting. It is located 500 meters from the Relais du Louvre, very close to Chatelet. We tried it out for you.
The atmosphere is traditional, quite elegant, and the place is not very noisy.
We are in a bistronomic restaurant. The menu offers around twenty options, with starters starting at €19 and main courses starting at €25. The restaurant also offers a two- or three-course menu for €28 or €31, which changes daily. The ingredients are organic and seasonal. The wines are mainly natural.
The wine cellar is particularly well stocked. The wines are a little expensive but of high quality, and the selection is expert. I choose the three-course menu with a perfect egg with mushrooms and a basmati rice venison stew, which I accompany with a red Gamay grown in Saint-Pourçain (Allier), which reveals beautiful notes of red fruit with suppleness.
The perfect egg is cooked whole at a low temperature, around 63 degrees, for about an hour. The white becomes just set, while the yolk remains creamy. It is broken open at the last moment, then seasoned and served with a garnish, in this case mushrooms reduced to a cream.
The dish is thoroughly satisfying. It has a consistent, balanced texture. It’s very pleasant.
Next comes the venison stew. It’s cooked for 10 hours at a low temperature. The meat is tender without being dry. The sauce is thick, dark, and rich. It goes well with the basmati rice.
Finally, I enjoy a tarte tatin, generously topped with caramel. It’s good, but the pastry is slightly too soggy.
Lunch or dinner at La Robe et le Palais is a great choice for those looking for refined cuisine at reasonable prices in a Parisian bistro atmosphere.
